As great as life can be, we often find ourselves faced with unexpected challenges that we may struggle to deal with and overcome. Sometimes we are able to overcome these obstacles on our own, but there are times where we could really use a helping hand. As a therapist, I want to be that helping hand-walking clients through the ups and downs-while also encouraging them to maintain their independence. Therapy can be a great opportunity to help uncover the strength we have within ourselves in order to be confident in facing what’s to come, as well as help us make sense of past events. We can all use someone we are comfortable talking to.
My approach to therapy draws from multiple modalities and techniques. As a counselor I truly believe in the importance of in creating a supportive, honest bond with my clients so that we can collaboratively work through your identified issues. You are the expert on your life, and I am here to add to and identify the tool’s that you have already acquired to help you deal with your struggles. I utilize CBT, DBT, mindfulness and Gestalt-based techniques to help identify and process feelings related to your experiences.
I specialize in working with children and adolescents along with families from 5 years old and up. I also specialize in working with young adults generally up to age 30 who struggle with mood disorders, anxiety, behavioral issues, post-trauma symptoms, and family separation/abuse. I have worked with children who are survivors of trauma and their families and am experienced in dealing with the different symptoms related to the trauma.
