For the first time, Darien Wellness is offering reduced fee counseling with clinically-supervised graduate level students!
The world has changed since the pandemic and many people are now finding themselves in need of mental health support more than ever. However, as a result of these conditions, many are also finding their financial situations less secure. If you (or someone you know) needs mental health counseling but are worried about cost- this might be the perfect opportunity for you.
Adding graduate students to the team at Darien Wellness felt like a logical idea. As CEO David Ezell put it, "This gives us a chance to train newer counselors to our practice under close supervision, while also meeting an important need in our community for access to care." Under this thinking, Darien Wellness has brought to the team the new additions of Claudette Ahumada, a second year Master's Candidate at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut and Kirsten Dunlap, a second year Master's Candidate from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Both Claudette and Kirsten are now available to see adult patients in the state of Connecticut.
"Because these clients are being seen by counseling students in collaboration with an experienced professional counselor (and in some cases, consulting with a professor from their program too), we have to limit the number of spaces available," says Ezell. "In many ways, the care these clients receive is as good, or even better than conventional therapy because it is reviewed by a group of experienced professionals."
If you believe you, or someone you know, would benefit from meeting with a counselor but are uninsured, underinsured, or feeling a financial hardship, please don't hesitate to reach out! We can help! To see if you qualify, please call our client line at 203-883-0464 for a complimentary assessment. Space in this program is limited.
