Nyssa Schmidt, MFT Intern

Offers Services In Person and Online

My goal, as a therapist, is to help people help themselves. There is more than one way to live, love, be a member of a family, raise children, and contribute to society. People are creative, flexible, and amazing but can get stuck, develop bad habits, forget their strengths, and lose hope. I strive to help my clients find hope again, remember what they’re good at, and apply their strengths to the problem.

I work with individuals, couples, and families, in all shapes, sizes and configurations, to identify issues, develop goals, and work towards a healthy way of handling those issues that works for you. Regardless of the cause: anxiety, depression, relationship dissatisfaction, family relationships failing, self-esteem woes, gender or sexuality issues, challenges faced by families, failure to launch and so much more.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in social science from Fairleigh Dickinson University and am a third-year graduate student in the Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program at National University. I spent over 15 years working in higher education as an administrator. This experience has given me a unique insight into the challenges and struggles faced during the transition after high school, adjusting to college life, and trying to create a meaningful life.
